If you are having a premature deflation issue and think that you are the only one, don’t worry, it happens more than you think. When folks think about keeping a penis hard they almost always think of premature ejaculation but premature deflation is just as common and just as frustrating.
There are three common reasons for this issue, blood flow problems, distraction issues, and antidepressants. That last one is the most frustrating but none of these are fun.
Let’s start with distraction issues first because that’s the easiest to deal with usually.
Techniques For Distraction issues
Even though it sounds like this is the owner of the penis’s fault, it isn’t. There are quite a few different neurological or mental health issues that can have this effect and none of them are directly under the control of the sufferer. Having said that, how do we solve it? Well if distractions or intrusive and inappropriate thoughts are the issue there are a few different ring methods to try.
Snug ring
This will work with any ring that is just snug enough to be felt. This is literally the penis equivalent to tying a string around your finger to remind you of something and serves the same purpose. If you feel something there that is unfamiliar it reminds you that you are doing something with that part. For mild problems this is usually enough to help. If this technique works for you at first but the effects fade as you get used to it, try a ring with a different texture or that is just a touch tighter or looser.
Vibrating ring
If that doesn’t work you want to find a cheap, disposable vibrating cockring to try out. Screaming O is one company that specializes in these and Hummdinger has good ones too. These are very stretchy to fit the most penises possible and have tiny vibrators the size of a vitamin capsule attached to them. The vibrators are one speed and will usually run for 45 minutes to an hour before the batteries die. This doesn’t seem like a very long time but it’s usually enough for several uses if you are using it only when you need it. You are trying to stimulate the wearer so you want to wear it with the ring at the very base of the penis and the vibrator on the bottom against the scrotum. For a lot of folks with a distraction problem this is enough to keep things going. You can also adjust the location of the vibrator if you find that it works better somewhere else or it’s getting in the way due to your personal style and movements.
If this approach is helping but the vibration needs to be stronger or different, that’s when you look into a different ring, maybe one with two vibrators or a more powerful multi speed one. These are going to be more expensive, especially if you get a rechargeable or reusable one. That’s why you definitely want to try a disposable first to make sure that this is going to help before you really invest in something.
Technique for Blood Flow issues
Unfortunately blood flow issues are a lot harder to solve than distraction issues so I only have one technique to tell you about here. If you are truly having a hard time because of blood flow your doctor is a better option than rings are but here is what I have for this.
The function of a penis is completely dependent on it having the right amount of fluid/blood. This is why ED medications like Viagra work. The pills don’t change the mood or act as an aphrodisiac, they just make blood go to the penis. In many cases that’s all it takes and any mood issues are surmounted by the erection. So the important part of our equation in the case of a premature deflation issue is keeping that blood in there.
As I warned you in the basics section, never leave a snug ring on any body part for more than twenty minutes.
Yes, this is basically the same technique that I talked about in the premature ejaculation section. You need a very snug ring that will hold the blood in as long as you need it to. The ring should be snug enough to hold blood in without hurting the penis and you need to put it on when your erection is as hard as possible. The main difference between this and how it works for premature ejaculation is that hopefully it doesn’t need to hold for as long. Most of the time in this situation you have a chance to regain the lost erection which means the ring does not have to be quite as tight. In these cases the circulation is ebbing and flowing randomly or there would not be an erection to lose. The goal here is to keep the blood in the penis until the blood flow comes back and the erection is working on its own again.
This is not really the best solution to this problem but there aren’t a lot of solutions to this kind of blood flow issue. This is the only way a ring can help with this unfortunately. Some problems are better addressed by your doctor but if that isn’t working for you, maybe this will. In addition, if you are not getting an erection at all or you are getting just a partial erection that is a different problem. You will probably need to talk to your doctor about ways to increase blood flow, which will probably lead to ED medication or a pump. I am not a doctor and will leave the medication to them but I will put out a pump article soon.
Techniques for anorgasmia due to antidepressants
The last reason for premature deflation is absolutely the worst one to work with, antidepressants. Anorgasmia due to antidepressants is a depressingly hard problem to solve, particularly for those with a penis. It leads to frustration all around and that includes me. I worked with a customer for years as she was trying to help her husband through this and we never solved the issue. The doctor who prescribed the antidepressants for the poor fellow refused to consider the anorgasmia a problem. This is not uncommon, many doctors do not consider anorgasmia to be an issue to worry about. How several months of regular sexual activity without climax can be considered okay confuses me but that’s the way it is.
Is there a ring that can help this? Yes and no? This is an unpredictable problem which is coming more from the brain than the penis and affects everyone differently. Any of the techniques I have talked about in this whole post might help keep it hard for the benefit of your partner. Essentially, yes, a ring can keep it hard. It doesn’t make it work better though, which is really the issue here. In some cases a vibrating ring might help you orgasm, especially a strong one, but not always or even usually. It is frustrating on so many levels but there is not much anyone can do other than talking to your doctor about changing your antidepressant prescriptions. Unfortunately if a vibrating ring doesn’t help you climax then there is nothing else a ring can do.
There are other things you can try that might help, but not a ring. I will do my best to get those suggestions out in a separate post.
That covers it for premature deflation, I’ll give you shopping tips and tricks for rings in this topic’s conclusion next.
